About Me

Hello potential Magnolia Academy families.  My name is Kimberly Slage and I am the proud Mom of two terrific girls.  Autumn is 15, and Chloe who is 9 going on 30!!  Ha,ha. Growing up I wore many hats along my journey to becoming who I am today. I worked in the medical field for over ten years where I was a Medical Assistant and Medical Receptionist. While in college, I drove a UPS truck, and later became a Flight Attendant for United Airlines.

I think my greatest life achievment so far is when I decided to become a full-time Mom. Having the kids at home in a loving enviroment has made such a difference in my life and theirs.  It is amazing to watch them learn naturally and enjoy their days.  The girls look forward to reading and learning new information on their own..
My husband Donald and I decided when Autumn was born that we would do what ever it took for me to be home with her and later Chloe.~  Donald has worked as many as four jobs to make this happen.
I was born and raised in Orlando,Fl.  I absolutely love making candles, reading, writing, movies with the family, and taking care of my dogs! I love all animals! We even have a pet piggie named Timmie.
I began home educating when my youngest daughter Chloe was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Chloe's oldest sister Autumn (15) helps take care of Chloe(9). Autumn has learned how to give injections, calculate glucose doses, and be a listening angel to her little sister. Chloe's courage living with her diagnoses has inspired all of us, and we learn from her everyday!

On a side note~

We encourage our students to remain relaxed and free of stress regarding knowledge.  If a child feels stressed about learning then the love of curiosity becomes a burden.  I encourge families to research "Unschooling" and start learning together with their kids!
